The Code Enforcement Special Magistrate has the jurisdiction to hear and decide alleged violations of the Inverness Code of Ordinances. The Code Enforcement Special Magistrate issues findings of fact based on evidence presented and issues an order outlining the penalties of Non-Compliance. The Code Enforcement Special Magistrate has the power to subpoena alleged violators and witnesses to its hearings, take testimony under oath, issue orders having the force of law and establish and levy fines, costs of repairs and liens.
The Code Enforcement Special Magistrate meets on an as needed basis. The regular schedule for monthly meetings is the second (2nd) Wednesday of each month at 3:00 pm in the City Council Chambers located at 212 W. Main Street. The Code Enforcement Special Magistrate falls under Florida State Statutes and, as such, all meetings are advertised and opened to the public.
