Bicyclists and in-line skaters yield to other users; all trail users yield to equestrians.
Obey all trail rules posted at trailheads.
Stay to the right except when passing.
Pass slower traffic on their left; yield to oncoming traffic when passing.
Always look ahead and behind when passing.
Travel at a responsible speed.
Do not trespass on private property.
Move off the trail surface when stopped to allow others to pass.
Yield to other trail users when entering and crossing the trail.
Do not disturb wildlife. All animal and plant life is protected in Florida State Parks.
By law you must give a clear warning signal when passing. Even cyclists who use a bell will frequently call out, “on your left” as they approach other cyclists, walkers, birders, etc.
Watch out for traffic at road crossings. Obey all traffic signals. While Florida law states if you are in the crosswalk, cars must yield, do not assume the driver knows this or will see you in time to stop.
Give others signals so they know what you plan on doing. Remember, if you were driving, you’d have to use turn signals, so you have to when cycling, too.
Signal you’re stopping by putting your fist – either hand – at the small of your back.
Helmets are required by Florida law for cyclists and equestrians under the age of 16 and are recommended for all ages.
