Eric Williams

Title: City Manager
Phone: Ext. 1011

Born and raised in southern Alabama, Eric graduated Mississippi State University earning a B.S. in Forestry and Land Management / Economics and a Master’s Degree in Biometrics & GIS. He began his work career in private land management in Jackson, MS. After working for 5 years in Mississippi and Alabama, Eric moved to Citrus County, initially working for the Florida Division of Forestry as the Senior Forester for Hernando County. While working for the state, he was ‘promoted to manage the region’s Geographic Information System (GIS), focusing on land management and wildland fire/disaster response. The program was successful and offered him the opportunities to work around the state and nation for response to natural disasters, providing GIS support to incident command.

In 2008, Eric was hired by Citrus County to be part of a development team to build a new Enterprise GIS system. As the team succeeded, Eric did too. By accepting new responsibilities his knowledge grew and in 3 years he had become the Director of Geographic Resources in Community Planning. In this position, Eric was charged with directing and maintaining the county’s long range planning and GIS programs.

It wasn’t just the job that moved Eric and his wife Jessica to the Citrus County area. The small town charm of Inverness captivated them. Eric’s avid outdoor interests as well as being a musician, helped to make the decision to relocate easier.

On April 1st, 2013, Eric joined the City of Inverness as City Manager in Training and was promoted to Assistant City Manager in May of 2014. His experience in land management and planning, along with his drive and desire for perfection, brings a can-do attitude approach to his personal and professional life. As a Paul Harris Fellow member in the Rotary Club of Inverness, we shouldn’t be surprised to see that Eric has a civic minded community based approach to the development and vision of the City.

Eric was promoted to Inverness City Manager on January 7, 2020 and looking forward to a long tenure in our community.
