The City of Inverness is the County Seat, located 30 miles southwest of Ocala in Marion County and 65 miles north of Tampa. The City is accessed by US Hwy 41 to the north, SR 44 east and west, a cross state highway corridor that connects to Interstate 75. Inverness has quick access to Orlando (75 miles) and Tampa and the two (2) respective International Airports. A local airport and soon to be developed business park complex enhance Inverness's efforts to provide a cost effective and logistically important location to do business while providing an exceptional quality of life.
Incorporated in 1919, Inverness "first growth period" came late in the first decade of the new century and continued into the 1920's. The City excels at preserving its past, while building for the future. The historic Citrus County Courthouse located on the square and the new Courthouse nearby compliment the historic downtown commercial district.
