Let's Talk Trash
All waste that results from your household is not necessarily "household waste". Some of the items you dispose of might be dangerous to the environment or to the waste hauler, if not handled properly.
So just what is considered hazardous waste and how/where should it be disposed?
The City of Inverness now provides curbside recycling for residences! Residents must use the green 64 gallon recycling cart provided by the City. The recycling cart has a yellow lid. Check the lid for what items are able to be recycled. Please place your recycling cart curbside on Tuesday night. Pick-up will be on Wednesday for the entire city. If you have any questions, or do not have a recycling cart at your residence, please call the Public Works Department at 352-726-2321.
There will be no collection on the following Holidays:
- Memorial Day
- July 4th
- Labor Day
- New Year's Day
During a holiday week, if a holiday falls on your residential service day, all services (including recycle and yard waste) will be performed the following day and all subsequent service days will be moved to the day after your normal service day for the remainder of the week.
The City of Inverness is proud to announce a new Interlocal Agreement for Landfill Services with the Solid Waste Management Division for the Citrus County Landfill. Residents of the City of Inverness will now be allowed to utilize the County Landfill for all solid waste with the exception of yard waste and bulky waste such as appliances and furniture. Additionally, it will allow City residents to utilize the facility for disposal of hazardous waste at the same rate as County residents.
